    Storyteller's guide

Posted by Elizabeth on 15th Nov 2020

This breakout is my favorite that I have purchased and for that reason I felt compelled to write a review. As a mom of two wild boys and a semi-cooperative girl, attempting to stage photos of my children has been frustrating and useless no matter how much I love the way it looks. This breakout really inspired me to change my approach altogether- she demonstrates that you can photograph your children as they truly are, and still make beautiful art out of it. I had also become convinced that I could not take nice pictures in my cluttered home- again, her photography proves otherwise. Also really appreciated that the breakout teaches how to "know your light" as I could not figure out how to actually put that into practice. If you have predominant blinds rather than curtains, this is also very useful. Overall just a great tool for anyone looking to try a different approach to photographing children.

I’m loving this breakout- a breath of fresh air!

If you feel like your house is a mess and/or your kids are doing something weird again, this breakout is where it’s at. After reading the material and viewing the footage, I honestly feel lighter. I don’t feel the need to orchestrate every little photo opportunity and then stress when my final shots don’t match my initial vision. Rather, this breakout has helped me embrace the way things naturally are- to let moments unfold as they will and to let kids be kids. While using the camera I have on hand, whether a big girl camera or phone, and using knowledge of light, it’s ENJOYABLE to capture the beautiful (and sometimes not beautiful) chaos around me. After all, I really do want to look back at his time in my life in all of its authentic messy toddler glory. One of my absolute favorite breakouts!

Want to make memories that last a lifetime?

It starts at home. Want to tell the stories of families through photographs? It Starts At Home. Want to learn light (that’s me)? IT STARTS AT HOME. Aly shares so much knowledge and tips. I love the light worksheets she provided and can’t wait to utilize them! She holds nothing back in this breakout. The content is real and raw. Probably one of the most moving breakouts I’ve participated in.

The editing videos alone are more than worth the cost!

I love the light study worksheets she provides! I’m directionally terrible so when I told him what way our windows were facing he looked at me like I was crazy! I truly loved this class and will read the material over and over!!! 5 stars!!
